Joan has been a potter for nearly 30 years and her work consists primarily of hand-built, delicately textured pieces. Some of her pieces are functional and many are simply sculptural forms. Kathy is a former interior designer turned potter, who discovered her passion for pottery in 2001. Some of her pieces consist of thrown, functional wares, handmade tiles, sinks, and sculptural totems.

Click for directions to the studio. Macon Mud is a working clay studio for artists Joan Hatcher and Kathy Murphy. Most of our work is available through Middle Georgia Art Association or Macon Arts. We often contract to make special commissions and are happy to meet with you to discuss a custom-made piece. Since this is our studio, we do not hold regular business hours, so please call ahead to make an appointment. We do offer a few private classes during the week for students who wish to learn to throw on the wheel or learn hand-building techniques. Please contact Kathy for further information. Lessons are by appointment. Times and spaces are limited. We host an annual Holiday Sale held on the first weekend in December. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please send your name and address to claykat@windstream.net |
